Rekmoon was built around one rule: your audio never leaves your iPhone. This page explains, plainly, what happens to each piece of your data.
Last updated: October 25, 2026
01In short
No account, no advertising, no audience measurement, no tracking.
Your recordings, transcripts and summaries are stored on your iPhone only. There is no cloud sync.
Only text can leave your iPhone, and only to summarize a note or answer a question. It is never kept.
02What stays on your device
Audio recordings are stored on your iPhone and never sent anywhere. Audio recorded on Apple Watch is transferred to your iPhone, then deleted from the watch.
Transcription is done on your iPhone by the speech recognition built into iOS. Speaker separation also runs on your iPhone, with models shipped inside the app.
Transcripts, summaries, folders, action items, translations, quizzes and flashcards are stored on your iPhone. Translation is done on the device by iOS.
Audio files you import are copied into the app, converted on your iPhone, and never sent anywhere.
03What can leave your device, and where to
To summarize a note, write a draft or answer a question, Rekmoon uses, in this order of preference:
1. Apple's on-device AI, when your iPhone supports it. Nothing leaves your iPhone.
2. The Rekmoon server, when your iPhone cannot summarize on its own. It receives the text needed for the task — the transcript and, depending on the request, the title, summary, your summary settings, your custom template's instructions and the names of your folders. The server forwards this text to OpenAI's API, returns the answer and keeps nothing. Its logs contain no text and no questions.
3. Your own key, if you chose a provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or Mistral). The text goes straight from your iPhone to that provider, under its own terms, and never through the Rekmoon server.
For a question asked to all your notes or for a briefing, the text sent is made of the titles, dates, places, summaries and excerpts of the relevant notes. Note identifiers never leave your iPhone.
04What our server keeps
To prevent abuse, the server only accepts requests from the genuine app on a real device (Apple's App Attest). It stores the identifiers of these attestation keys and daily usage counters — nothing else.
Under each summary you can rate it 👍 or 👎. The vote is sent with four labels only (the engine, the template, the length and the vote), with no text and no note identifier, and adds one to an anonymous daily counter.
05Place of a note (optional)
Off by default. If you turn it on, Rekmoon reads your location once at the start of each recording, while you use the app. To name the place, the coordinates are sent to Apple's map service. No background location, no tracking.
06Reminders
When you send an action item to Reminders, iOS asks for full access to Reminders, as it offers no write-only access. Rekmoon adds reminders and reads none. Once in Reminders, they follow your own settings, iCloud included.
07Your provider keys
If you enter a key for an AI provider, it is stored in the iPhone Keychain, on this device only. It is never written to logs and never sent to the Rekmoon server.
08Subscriptions
Purchases are handled by Apple. Rekmoon never sees your payment details. To verify a Premium subscription, the server checks the transaction signed by Apple.
09This website
rekmoon.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party resources. Our hosting and network providers keep standard technical logs (IP address, date, page requested) for security, for a limited time.
10Your rights
Since your notes live on your iPhone, you remain in full control: deleting a note deletes its audio file, and deleting the app deletes everything.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase data concerning you. For any question, write to [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
11Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page is updated.
